Meredith Sumenek speaks up in the state legislature
Meredith Sumenek traveled to Jefferson City to give in-person testimony before the State House Committee on redistricting. Politicians in the Missouri State Legislature are making very big decisions about the future of democracy in our state while four State House districts, including the 95th District in South St. Louis County, remain without representation in the State House because the Governor has not yet called a special election to fill vacancies.
Meredith made a powerful argument that our Missouri State Legislators should not allow politicians from the federal government to dictate our congressional district map, which according to our Missouri state constitution should be drawn by representatives from our state to reflect the needs of the people of our state.
State House District 95 may not have a representative, but Meredith is determined to make sure the people of South St. Louis County can make our voices heard on important issues like redistricting.
Meredith’s testimony was featured in the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
