As a parent who has guns at home, I know how important it is to teach my son to be safe and responsible.

This matters a lot, especially because Missouri has one of the highest rates of toddler deaths from guns in the country. As a mom, I can’t imagine how painful that would be.

We deserve better!

Here is my plan:

• Teach families how to handle and store guns safely, and show them where to get free gun locks

• Support the rights of responsible gun owners

• Work with schools and the community to help create laws that keep kids safe at home and at school
